Priority: DEBT

Priority: PLANNING

Development without supporting infrastructure doesn’t make sense. People have repeatedly asked me, ‘who’s making the decisions in this town, is it council or the developers?’ While I am in favor of development, …

Like all websites there is only so much information you can post.  But rest assured, I’ve heard many other ideas about seniors, youth, green space, accountability and transparency, economic development etc.  If you would like to know more, please feel free to contact me at the ‘Dan For Town Council’ group at Facebook. Alternatively if you would like to help, perhaps put up a lawn sign, or have questions, please contact me directly via Email.

Friends and Neighbors;

First of all, thank you for being involved in this election.

When I first ran for town council in 2013 I was asked, ‘why are you running?’
My answer was, and still is, ‘I believe in being part of a community, not just living in it’.  This is my way to contribute.

I was also asked, ‘Why should I vote for you?’

I have lived in Cochrane for over 16 years.  I’m happily married and am the father of beautiful twin girls. I cannot imagine a better place to help raise my family.  I want to ensure all of Cochrane’s children have the future they deserve.

I have skills that allow me to see the ‘bigger picture’ and how policy and planning effect our daily lives.  I have worked at a sawmill, I have worked at a pulp mill, I have trained to be a firefighter, I have been a paramedic, I have taught paramedics, I have been a financial planner, I have owned my own business, I have taught and provided care for people with developmental challenges, I have worked for Children’s Services/Child Welfare as an investigator and I am currently an Employment Standards Officer working with Employers and Employees to find solutions when disputes occur about employment earnings.  I have Bachelors in Social work from the University of Victoria.  I was also a member of the Cochrane Planning Commission for a number of years.

As I did in 2013, I have spent the first part of this campaign focusing only on having on conversations with you.   I started this campaign over 8 months ago asking over 350 people from across town three simple questions one, what do you like what council is doing, two, what do you not like what council is doing and/or what would you like to see improved and three, do you have any suggestions to fixing the problems?  Everything mentioned in this web site comes from those discussions.

Overwhelmingly you’ve told me your top concerns are about the growing traffic congestion in our town, how your tax dollars are being spent and the questionable planning that has occurred.  I share your concerns!

If you are thinking of voting for me, you should know what my priorities are.  They are:

Priority: TRAFFIC
