PRIORITY: TAKING ACTION
While we have made some progress in tackling the growing traffic problems in Cochrane, much of that work has only shifted the traffic bottle necks vs. eliminating them. I will focus on finding increased efficiencies in our current traffic grid and focus on the diversion of traffic out of the Cochrane downtown core.
I believe that in most circumstances there are solutions that both benefit the economy while providing protection for the environment. I will work with developers and other strategic partners to focus on the promotion of environmental solutions such as providing roughed in solar and electric car charging station(s), revamping off site levi fees to expand the valuation of green space and stop the devaluing effects of subdivisions with one side sidewalks, zero property setbacks and reduction in spacing between houses. Housing density targets can and will be maintained with more creative solutions.
